Frequently asked questions
The questions we are asked most at the counter. If yours is not here, call 01908 613228.
What services are available at Newport Pagnell Post Office?
26 services are listed at this branch: Royal Mail and Parcelforce post, courier drop-off, everyday banking, bill payments, passport Check & Send, document certification and ID verification, DVLA photocard renewal, vehicle tax, SIA licence support, travel money and international money transfer.
Can I renew my passport here?
Yes. Both Paper Check & Send and Digital Check & Send are available for new applications and renewals. We review your form and supporting documents before they are submitted.
What is the difference between Digital and Paper Check & Send?
Digital Check & Send submits your application online after we have reviewed it, and is usually faster. Paper Check & Send uses the traditional printed form, checked before it is posted. Both include the same document review.
How much does it cost to send a parcel?
It depends on size, weight, destination and how quickly it needs to arrive. Bring the item in and we will price the options side by side.
What is the difference between Signed For and Special Delivery?
Signed For collects a signature on delivery as proof of receipt. Special Delivery Guaranteed adds priority handling, a guaranteed delivery timeframe and higher compensation cover — the right choice for valuable or time-critical items.
Can I send parcels internationally?
Yes, through Royal Mail and Parcelforce Worldwide. We will help with the customs declaration and flag anything that cannot be sent to that country.
What is Drop & Go, and who is it for?
A prepaid account service for people who post regularly. Prepare your items at home, drop the batch at the counter and go — we process them and send your receipt. Popular with online sellers and small businesses.
Which couriers can I use at this branch?
As well as Royal Mail and Parcelforce Worldwide, this branch offers DPD and Evri — both to buy postage over the counter and to drop off pre-labelled parcels and returns.
Can I withdraw or deposit cash here?
Yes. Customers of most participating banks and building societies can withdraw cash, deposit cash and deposit cheques using their usual card or paying-in slip.
Can I pay bills at the Post Office?
Yes, for eligible bills including payment cards and barcoded utility bills, by cash or card. Mobile and energy top-ups are also available.
What is a Travel Money Card?
A prepaid card you load with foreign currency before you travel. The exchange rate is fixed when you load it, and you spend from the card abroad rather than carrying cash.
Can I exchange foreign currency before travelling?
Yes. Common currencies are held in branch and less common ones can be ordered. Call ahead if you need a specific amount or currency so we can have it ready.
Can I renew my driving licence here?
Yes. Eligible customers can renew a photocard driving licence at the counter, including having the photograph taken.
Can I tax my vehicle at the Post Office?
Yes, for eligible vehicles. Bring your V11 reminder or V5C logbook, and MOT details where required.
Can I send money abroad?
Yes, through Western Union. Bring photo ID and the recipient's full name exactly as it appears on their own identification.
Do I need an appointment?
No — the counter is walk-in. Some services operate at particular times, so it is worth calling first if you are making a special trip. Weekday mornings before 11:00 are usually the quietest.
Which areas do you serve?
We serve customers from Newport Pagnell, Milton Keynes, Olney, Wolverton, Sherington, Moulsoe, Chicheley, North Crawley, Stoke Goldington, Broughton and Willen.
Can businesses use your services?
Yes. Drop & Go, courier drop-off, cash and cheque deposits and bill payments are all used regularly by local businesses and sole traders.
How do I contact the branch?

Still have a question?
If it is not covered above, ask us directly — we would rather answer than have you make a wasted trip.
